WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

It’s Work in Progress Wednesday at Freshly Pieced!

Today I’m alternating between sewing and cooking.  We’re not hosting Thanksgiving, but my daughter is milk/soy protein intolerant (MSPI).  Since I’m breastfeeding her, it means that I can’t eat anything containing dairy or soy.  This is pretty limiting considering that practically everything contains dairy or soy (seriously, some brands of taco seasoning have dairy, some brands of tuna fish have soy, etc).  Although I’m used to dealing with the restrictions now (other than my “I MISS CHEESE!!!!” breakdown every couple of weeks), asking other people to find substitutions for me is a lot to ask, so I’m making my own Thanksgiving feast.

On the sewing machine today is a continuation of the doll quilt that I started earlier this week.  Here’s my progress in pictures:

Circles are pieced:

The scariest part is cutting into the already-sewn circles to turn them right-side-out:

Finished circles:

Making sure that the layout works for both the front and the back was kind of tough…I tried a bunch of options before I settled on this one.  The layout (front):

And now I really need to go spend some time in the kitchen!
